I'm Brittanie Lewis
As a Black woman, I feel that it is my duty to create stories that reflect the Black imagination, and to fill those stories with beautiful characters, and creatures, and scenery.
My work celebrates color and diversity first. I love using palettes and expressive body language to tell a story. Dimension and vibrancy help to pull in an audience, immersing them in the world an artist creates. Another element in story immersion, and arguably the most important, is the audience being able to see themselves.
Different shapes, different shades, different styles and attitudes, these things are what go into the creation of my characters. I love crafting casts for all sorts of worlds, be they high fantasy or alternative suburban reality. It's not only fun, but deeply fulfilling to create the things that I do. To know that a kid or teenager who isn't used to seeing themselves in the forefront of media can identify with a character I made, or get lost in a world I created, brings me immeasurable joy.
